Coach Sean Covich (since 2006) is also sports information director for Meridian Community College. He played for the Meridian CC golf team (1998-2000).
The Meridian CC Eagles finished sixth at the 2009 NJCAA D-I Men's National at the River Course on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Hampton Cove, Huntsville, AL. Conditions were nice, except for a windy third round that moved the daily scoring average four strokes higher.
Garrett Westbrook (76-72-76-73=297) finished tied for 11th.
Meridian finished third at the 2009 NJCAA D-I District 5 Championship at Terri Pines Country Club in Cullman, Ala. Nick Hawkes (73-76-78=227) finished in a three-way tie for sixth.
Meridian CC finished in the top-ten at the NJCAA D-II National Championship eight times between 1998 and 2008. They moved from NJCAA D-II to D-I beginning 2008-09.
Covich was named NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) Region 23 Coach of the Year in 2007. He was also named MACJC (Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges) Coach of the Year in 2007.
Covich received his B.S. (sports communication) and M.S. (sports administration) from Mississippi State University. |
